Mini-Workshops will be conducted on a variety of topics related to the writing craft and the process of getting work published.

Mini-Workshop Plan/Schedule
Twenty-five percent of our organization's name is Workshop.
Some of our members volunteer their time and energy to develop educational programs for the benefit of all members on various aspects of the writing craft. Thanks to those members willing to share their talent and knowledge, we plan to put on a Mini-Workshop every month in 2019. The presenters facilitate the workshops, present material and lead exercises to hone writing skills.
The workshops are usually offered early on the first Saturday of each month at no cost to attendees and do not interfere with the normal reading and critique activities. Based on feedback, the programs deliver value and the attendees appreciate the efforts of the volunteers.

Is your character Introverted or Extroverted? Are they more tended to observe what’s happening around them or follow their gut? Are they highly logical or more emotional? Are they planners or do they go with the flow? Are they highly perfectionist and worry a lot or do are they self-assuredly confident? Every once in awhile, make them do something different than the expected. If they are planners, maybe once they just wing it.
Stephanie Z. will define subtext, provide scene examples, and explore advantages and purposes of this essential writing element. Learn some tips to make your dialogue subtle and strong.

At 9:00 am Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 Katie Pierce will tackle the topic of research, a necessity and often a distraction.
At 9:00 am Saturday, June 6th, 2020 Dennis Coburn will examine the role the chapter plays in a novel, both structurally and as a logical unit.
At 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11th, 2020 tune in to learn at least 10 ways to cleanup your writing. Are you guilty of using passive voice? Have you fallen asleep reading sentences with too many adjectives? Is your story packed with useless attributions? What the heck is a hedging verb? How can you spot redundancy? Join us for a workshop to learn some techniques to polish your craft.

The purpose of punctuation is to clarify meaning by indicating the pauses, intonation, voice patterns, etc. that we naturally use when speaking. For example, notice what a difference punctuation makes in this sentence:
A woman without her man is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
On Saturday, August 1st, we will try to make some sense out of the proper use of punctuation marks such as commas, hyphens, quotation marks, and much more. And maybe we’ll have a little fun along the way. I hope you can join us.

Digital Publishing and the 2019 Anthology Project
Digital or electronic publishing is a common channel to distribute books, magazines, and newspapers to consumers through tablet reading devices. The market is growing by millions each year, generated by online vendors such as Apple's iTunes bookstore, Amazon's bookstore for Kindle, and books in the Google Play Bookstore.
This program examines the broad topic of digital publishing and follows the real world example of actually publishing a digital edition of TAWW's 2019 Anthology.
